What Is Drillseeding?

Our custom drill seeding equipment is capable of performing ‘no-till’ seeding where seeds are drilled directly into the soil at the ideal depth without expensive soil preparation. The drill mechanically opens a furrow, places seeds into the soil at a specified depth, then covers seed in one pass.

 

Benefits of Drill Seeding:

Drill Seeding places seed into direct contact with soil at a significantly reduced seeding rate compared to other methods producing effective, long-term vegetative cover and erosion control at a reduced cost.

The seeding rate can be adjusted for ideal coverage for any type of seed, increasing uniformity across large areas.

 

Seed to soil contact and precision packing soil over seed increases germination rates significantly over broadcast seeding where seeds are exposed to birds, wind, or sun.

 

Multiple seed boxes for different seed types allow for the ability to seed more than one depth at once for various seed types, including notoriously difficult small and fluffy seed types.

 

Can Hydromulch be applied over drill seeding as a combined service?
Yes, in fact this is a highly recommended combination for certain conditions where drill seeding is required. Using the same fertilizer, tackifier, and wood fiber mulch slurry as hydroseeding then insulates, fortifies the soil, and further protects from wind transport and erosion.
